Derrick Rose, the 2011 NBA MVP, partnered with his former Chicago Bulls teammate Joakim Noah to record a short film that detailed the incredible moments of their careers. On Tuesday, the Bulls released the 26-minute-long video on their YouTube account.
While Rose and Noah talked about a multitude of topics in the video, the Bulls posted on Instagram a snippet wherein the two players talked about the 2008 draft night.
"I was hating on New York at the time ... because they were comparing it to Chicago," Rose said.
The Bulls captioned the post:

The three-time NBA All-Star also added that he was unhappy to be in New York. Rose had to be in the city as a draft applicant. The draft was held at the Washington Mutual Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
"I'm mad I'm there (draft night)," Rose said. "Like, 'Why am I not in Chicago right now?'"
Rose was born and raised in Chicago, and he was drafted with the first pick of the 2008 NBA draft by the Bulls. He went on to play seven seasons with Chicago. Rose also played for the New York Knicks during his career, and he mentioned his brief time there.
"I didn't love New York until I went and played there," Rose said. "I love that city now, though."
Rose spent three-and-a-half seasons in two stints with New York. In his second stint (2021-23), he was a major contributor for coach Tom Thibodeau, as he provided a veteran presence off the bench.
After spending the previous NBA season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Rose announced his retirement in September.

Joakim Noah pledges for Derrick Rose
With Derrick Rose's retirement, rumors swirled about him getting a statue from his hometown Chicago Bulls. On a "Run It Back" episode on Dec. 18, host Lou Williams asked Joakim Noah his thoughts about the former Bulls star getting a statue in Chicago.
"One-hundred percent," Noah said. "As great as Pooh (Rose) was as a player, to me, I think he's an even better human. You know, the most humble superstar out there, and just the way he represented Chicago every time he stepped out there was unreal."
Noah went on to discuss how Rose impacted Chicago on and off the court and touched on his former teammate's possible induction to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
"Hall of Famer, for sure. ... You look at his highlights before the injuries, and we've never seen anything like that. Just the way he hooped and how explosive he was," Noah added.
Rose played with six teams but spent his prime years with the Bulls. During those years, Rose was widely regarded as the most athletic and most explosive point guard in basketball. He was the 2009 NBA Rookie of the Year, and he was selected to the All-NBA first team in 2011, the same year he won MVP. He has career averages of 17.4 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
As injuries derailed his 15-year career, Derrick Rose is arguably one of the biggest what-ifs in NBA history.
