Born on May 5, 1998, in Eugene, Oregon, Isaiah Hartenstein plays center for the New York Knicks. He was drafted by the Houston Rockets with the 43rd overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

After impressive performances in the G League for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in his rookie season, the Rockets front office signed him to a rookie contract in July 2018.

In the 2018/19 G League season, he scored 33 points (eight 3-point field goals made) in a closeout game as he helped the Vipers win the G League championship and was awarded the G League Finals MVP.

After getting waived by the Rockets, Hartenstein had short spells with the Denver Nuggets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. His breakthrough season came with the LA Clippers, where he averaged 8.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.

In the 2022 offseason, Hartenstein signed with the Knicks as a backup center and featured in all 82 games in his first season.

In the 2023/24 season, Hartenstein started 49 games out of 75, and ranked second in the league in defensive estimated plus-minus. He restricted opponents to just 53.2% within six feet from the rim, ranking him fifth in defended field goal percentage in this area (minimum six dfga and 60 games).
