Isaiah Stewart is a young and talented center/power forward who plays for the Detroit Pistons. Hailing from Rochester, New York, Stewart played one season of college basketball at the University of Washington before declaring for the 2020 NBA Draft. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 16th overall pick.


However, the Trail Blazers immediately traded the draft rights for Stewart to the Houston Rockets. Houston then traded him to Detroit in exchange for Christian Wood. This allowed Stewart to step right into a starting role for the Pistons as a rookie during the 2020-2021 season.


In his first season in Detroit, Stewart appeared in 68 games and started 14. He averaged 7.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. His strong debut earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.


In 2021/2022, he started all the games he played in, posting averages of 8.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. In the 2022/23 season, he has continued his upward trajectory. In 50 games played, Stewart averaged 11.3 points, rebounds 8.1 and assists 1.4 per game.

There, he established himself as one of the top high school players in the nation. Stewart earned recognition as a five-star recruit and was considered one of the top five players in the 2019 recruiting class.


After high school, Stewart played one season of college basketball at the University of Washington. He selected Washington due in large part to his relationship with head coach Mike Hopkins. With his exceptional play he was named to the First-team All-Pac-12. His success at Washington solidified his status as a coveted NBA prospect.


At just 21 years old, Isaiah Stewart has quickly risen from high school standout to NBA starter over the past few years. His basketball journey started taking shape during his teenage years in Rochester and Indianapolis. Now in the NBA, Stewart is just getting started on what looks to be a promising pro career.
