Ja Morant has continued to find himself in the headlines as of late. After allegedly being in a car that pointed a red dot, possibly from a gun, at Indiana Pacers team members following a game, reports emerged of another incident. According to a police report, Morant and a 17-year-old were involved in an altercation during a pickup game.

As part of the altercation, Morant reportedly punched the teenager a dozen times and confronted him while he had a gun in his waistband. Ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies game against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, it was revealed that Morant would play with a facemask.

For Morant, the latest information about his altercation with the teen has left many fans concerned. As the NBA community has pointed out, Morant seems to be walking a fine line as he balances his NBA career and a life many believe he should have left behind.

Between his alleged involvement in the intimidation of the Indiana Pacers team, the altercation with the 17-year-old one would think Morant would be trying to keep out of trouble. Despite that, further reports have indicated that just days before Morant punched the teen during the pickup game, he was involved in a heated standoff.

After Morant’s mother was allegedly involved in a verbal dispute with a mall employee, Morant and as many as nine or ten other people arrived. When they were asked to leave, things escalated and the police showed up.

A security guard was pushed, however, and the police presence deescalated the situation before things spilled over into a full blown melee. As Morant was leaving ,he allegedly threatened the security director for the mall, saying, “Let me find out what time he get off”

So far there has been no word on whether or not the Memphis Grizzlies plan to try and figure out what’s going on with Morant off the court. From the sounds of things, if Morant continues down the path he’s currently on, he’ll have to find a way to balance NBA superstardom with off-court controversies.

Whether or not the NBA decides to pull rank on the Grizzlies and directly intervene to try and reign the high-flying star in remains to be seen.
