
Jack McVeigh is an Australian professional basketball player who is on a two-way deal with the Houston Rockets. He plays for the Rockets in the NBA and their G League affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the NBA G League.McVeigh attended the University of Nebraska for the period 2015-18 and played for their college team Nebraska Cornhuskers men's basketball team. His role grew over the years during his period as a collegiate there, McVeigh played 78 games in total in 3 years, starting 15 of those games while averaging 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Born in New South Wales, McVeigh returned to Australia in 2018 after completing his college period in the U.S. and started playing in the 2018 Queensland Basketball League for the Gold Coast Rollers.
Subsequently, he joined the Adelaide 36ers, a team in the NBL (National Basketball League) after signing a three-year deal. He subsequently played for the North Adelaide Rockets. In 2021, he led the North Adelaide Rockets to the 2021 NBL Central title. In 2022-23 McVeigh joined the Tasmania Jackjumpers and in the very next season i.e.- 2023-24, Tasmania went on to win the NBL Championship led by McVeigh who was instrumental in the grand final series win over the Melbourne United as he won the Grand final MVP award for his final performance. In July 2024 after his great performances in Australia Jake McVeigh joined the Texas-based NBA franchise the Houston Rockets on a two-way contract. McVeigh chose to wear the #58 jersey and became the first NBA player ever to wear that jersey number.
