
Jack McVeigh is an Australian power forward who as of November 2024, plays for the Houston Rockets. He hails from Murwillumbah, New South Wales. McVeigh played college basketball with the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2015 to 2018. In 2018, he returned to his hometown to play for the Gold Coast Rollers in the Queensland Basketball League. He then signed a three-year deal with the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL. During his first year, he also played for the North Adelaide Rockets in the NBL1 and helped them win the 2021 NBL1 Central championship.
While McVeigh struggled for success in the NBL with the Adelaide 36ers, his career took off when he joined the Tasmania JackJumpers in their inaugural 2021–22 season. He helped the team reach the NBL Grand Final series, although they lost to the Sydney Kings. In the 2023–24 NBL season, McVeigh led the JackJumpers to another Grand Final series after a semi-final victory over the Perth Wildcats. In Game 3 of the semi-finals, he scored a career-high 27 points. The JackJumpers went on to win the NBL championship in a 3–2 series against Melbourne United. McVeigh was named the Grand Final MVP. He averaged 17.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game that season and was named the JackJumpers Club MVP. In July 2024, McVeigh was selected for the Australian Boomers' final squad for the Paris Olympics.
