Drafted fifth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Jaden Ivey serves as a key piece for the Detroit Pistons’ offense, playing as their primary Point Guard, and has lots of potential within him. Born in South Bend, Indiana, Ivey grew up as a multi-sport kid and was a really talented football athlete.

Ivey shifted his focus to basketball in his freshman year of high school and dedicated himself to getting better at the sport. He joined Marian High School and quickly developed as one of their highly talented guards. In his junior year at Marian, Ivey averaged over 25 points per game on 40% shooting.

For his senior year, Ivey shifted to La Lumiere Preparatory School and stayed consistent with his overall gameplay, averaging 15 points per game on 40% shooting.

Ivey graduated high school as a consensus four-star recruit and committed to playing for Purdue University over offers from other top Division I programs including Indiana-based Butler and Notre Dame.

In his two seasons at Purdue, Ivey averaged 14.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 0.8 steals per game on 44% field goal shooting and 32% three-point shooting and received selections for 2021-22 All-Big Ten first-team and All-Freshman Team.

As one of the primary ball handlers for the Pistons, Ivey doesn’t compromise on ball movement which makes him a reliable team player.

Jaden Ivey Wingspan

Ivey’s wingspan measures 6 feet 9 inches in length. When on the court, One of his upper hand is his reach which allows him to disrupt passing lanes and gain ball control. Similarly, when on the defensive end, he uses those long arms to deflect the ball from the opponents’ hands and gain possession for the transition scoring.

While Ivey has shown lots of promise in his rookie season, there is a lot more room for improvement for him, on the defensive end of the court.
