Jalen Williams is an American small forward/shooting guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Nicknamed "J-Dub," Williams was born on April 14, 2001 and attended Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona. In his junior high school season, Williams was named Chandler Unified School District Player of the Year. In his senior season, he was awarded the 2017–18 Region Offensive Player of the Year after averaging over 25 ppg.
For college, Jalen Williams committed to Santa Clara Broncos and made his debut for them on November 5, 2019, recording 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals against UC Santa Cruz. He was named on the First Team All-WCC, Second Team NABC All-District, and was a finalist for the Lou Henson Award, given to the nation's top mid-major player in his final season with Santa Clara.
Williams reached 1,000 career points as a junior after averaging 12.6 points on 46.9% shooting for his career in his three-year collegiate career. He was also a two-time All-WCC. Williams was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2022 NBA draft with the 12th overall pick. After averaging 14.1 ppg in his rookie season, Williams was named on the NBA All-Rookie First Team, becoming the second Thunder player to be named to it for his exploits on the field.
