He initially attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and played for the George Washington Revolutionaries men's basketball team from 2019 to 2021. During his freshman season, he averaged 11.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in 35.3 minutes per game over 32 games. Later, he transferred to the University of Minnesota and played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers men's basketball team. Battle concluded his collegiate basketball at Ohio State University, playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball team where he averaged 15.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, the Third-team Academic All-American in 2024, and the Third-team All-Atlantic 10 in 2021.
