Born on April 3, 1999, in Houston, Texas, to Robert and Gwendolyn Vanderbilt, Jarred Vanderbilt has basketball running in his family. Both his parents are former basketball players, who played for Wiley College and Xavier of Louisiana.
Currently playing as power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, Vanderbilt was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, and one of the best players of the 2017 class. However, due to multiple injuries, his college career with the Kentucky Wildcats lasted just 14 games.
The Orlando Magic selected Vanderbilt with the 41st overall pick in 2018, but he was soon traded to the Denver Nuggets, where he played from 2018 to 2020. Since then, he has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz.
