Jaxson Hayes of the Los Angeles Lakers, is the epitome of towering height coupled with athleticism. With a game style characterised by blocks and electrifying dunks, Hayes began his basketball journey at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States of America.


Hayes went on to play college basketball at the University of Texas, Austin and earned recognition for his performances. One of these included being named Big 12 Freshman of the Year. He was identified as an individual who would be a force to be reckoned with in the NBA given his size and athleticism.


Hayes declared for the NBA draft in 2019 and was selected as the 8th overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks. He was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans with whom he played for the first four seasons of his career. In 2023, Hayes moved to the Los Angeles Lakers, signing a two-year contract with the Lebron James led team.


Hayes functions as a backup big man to superstar Anthony Davis, Hayes provides much needed energy and hustle to the Lakers team. His role continues to evolve as he learns the nuances of the game. Hayes has been averaging under 12 minutes per game, scoring almost four points on just below 70% shooting from the field. He also averages 2.5 rebounds and 0.5 steals per game, showcasing his ability to put up numbers on both ends of the floor as a bench player.


As a young, budding player with potential, Hayes’ has not scratched the surface of the player that he can be. There is little doubt that if he continues on his path, he may well be a star in the league.
