
James Matthew Huff commonly known as James Huff is an American professional basketball player for the NBA franchise Memphis Grizzlies. The 7'1 North Carolina-born player plays as a Center for the Grizzlies. After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Huff initially joined the Washington Wizards for the NBA Summer League but was subsequently waived in October 2021. In the same month, he signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers where he also played for the South Bay Lakers. Huff joined the roster for the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2022 NBA Summer League. Later, in March 2023 Huff signed a two-way contract with the Washington Wizards and in April 2023 owing to his solid defense Huff was named NBA G League G League Defensive Player of the Year as he led the league in blocks per game. He was also named in the All-NBA G League First Team as well as the NBA G League All-Defensive First Team in 2023.
Owing to his great performances in the G League the former Virginia Cavaliers college basketball player signed a two-way contract with Memphis Grizzlies on July 24, 2024. Later in October 2024 after his constant solid performances over a stretch of games, Huff signed a multi-year contract with Grizzlies.
