Jaylen Marselles Brown, born on October 24, 1996, is a professional basketball player who plays for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. His basketball journey began during his high school years at Wheeler High School in Georgia. As a junior, Brown averaged 24.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. His performance helped the Wheeler Wildcats achieve a 29-5 record. In Brown's senior year, he led Wheeler to the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Class 6A State Championship, posting outstanding numbers with 28 points and 12 rebounds per game. The team finished with a 30-3 record. His talents earned him several prestigious awards, including Gatorade Georgia Boys Player of the Year and Georgia's Mr. Basketball.

Before college, Brown represented USA Basketball, winning a gold medal in the 2014 FIBA Americas Championship with the U18 National Team. He was also selected for the 2015 McDonald's All-American Boys Game. As a highly sought-after five-star recruit, Brown was ranked fourth in the class of 2015, behind only Ben Simmons, Skal Labissière, and Brandon Ingram. Brown chose to play college basketball at the University of California, Berkeley, under coach Cuonzo Martin. In his single college season (2015-16), he averaged 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 27.6 minutes per game. His impressive freshman performance earned him first-team All-Pac-12 honors and the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year award.

The Boston Celtics selected Jaylen Brown as the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft. After impressing in the Summer League with averages of 16.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.3 steals, Brown signed his rookie contract with the Celtics on July 27, 2016. Brown made an immediate impact in his NBA debut, scoring nine points against the Brooklyn Nets in the season opener. His first career start came against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he scored 19 points. Later that season, he set his rookie career-high with 20 points against the Orlando Magic.

In his rookie year, Brown played 78 games, starting 20 of them. He averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 17.2 minutes per game. His solid performance earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. Brown also helped the Celtics secure the Eastern Conference's top seed and reach the Conference Finals. Since then, Brown has evolved into a cornerstone player for the Celtics. Over eight seasons, he has played 540 games, averaging 18.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists. His achievements include three All-Star selections and winning the 2023-24 Finals MVP award while leading the Celtics to their first NBA Championship during his tenure.
