Jayson Tatum is an American basketball player for the Boston Celtics, as of February 2025. Tatum began his NBA career after being drafted third overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft. Tatum was born on March 3, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri, to his parents, Justin Tatum and Brandy Cole. Tatum has a brother named Jaycob and a sister, Kayden.

Tatum has been named an All-Star six consecutive times and was also named the All-Star Game MVP in 2023. Tatum has made four All-NBA teams ( 3X All-NBA First Team, 1X All-NBA Third Team) and has won one NBA Championship, as of March 2025. In his career, Tatum has averaged 23.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game over 579 games, as of March 26, 2025. Internationally, Tatum has represented the United States and played for the USA men's basketball team in many championships, including the Basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan; the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, and more, where his team has secured gold medals.

Jayson Tatum had a brief yet impactful college career at Duke University and played for the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team during the 2016–17 season. Prior to the commencement of the 2016-17 college season, Tatum faced a setback, missing eight games due to a foot injury. However, after coming back from injury, Tatum helped his team to get the fifth seed in the ACC tournament. He was named to the All-ACC Tournament first team as he helped Duke win the ACC Tournament championship. During the last four wins leading to the championship, Tatum averaged 22 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, as per his college roster.

Throughout his freshman year, Tatum averaged 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, as per his college roster. For his performances, Tatum was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, Third-team All-ACC and was also one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award. After his freshman year at Duke, Jayson Tatum declared for the 2017 NBA draft on March 22, 2017, as per his college roster.

Jayson Tatum graduated from Chaminade College Preparatory School, located in Creve Coeur, Missouri. During his senior season, Tatum averaged 29.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game and led his high school team to the Missouri Class 5A state title, as per his college profile. He was named the 2016 Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year, the All-USA Missouri Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2016, and the 2015-16 All-USA Preseason Boys Basketball Team by USA Today. In 2016, Tatum was named to the Jordan Brand Classic, where he scored 18 points. Coming out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the 2016 class by ESPN and Rivals, as per his college profile.
