
Jermaine Samuels Jr. is a 1998-born American professional basketball player who plays for the NBA G League franchise Rio Grande Valley Vipers who are affiliated with the Houston Rockets in the NBA. Born in Franklin, Massachusetts, U.S. Samuel went undrafted in the 2022 NBA draft and then signed with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. In 2023, Jermaine Samuels signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets of the NBA and their G League affiliate Grande Valley Vipers. In July 2024 he subsequently signed a standard contract with the Rockets but was later waived in October after which he re-joined the Vipers. Samuels went to The Rivers School and led the Rivers School to a 20-6 record as a senior in 2016-17 while playing for Coach Keith Zalaski.
Jermaine Samuel Jr was ranked among the nation's top small forwards by Scout and Rivals. During his junior season in college, Samuels was named to the Preseason Second Team All-Big East alongside his Villanova teammate Collin Gillespie. In his junior year, Samuels averaged 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and was also named to the Second Team All-Big 5. In his senior year, Samuels Jr. averaged 12 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game and also earned the recognition of All-Big East Honorable Mention. The six-foot-five Massachusetts-born guard also won the coveted NCAA Championship in 2018. In July 2019 Samuels Jr. was also part of the United States National Team who competed at the Pan American Games in Peru where they won a bronze medal with Samuels scoring 9 points in the Bronze medal game.
