
Jesse David Edwards is a Dutch professional basketball player who plays as a center for the NBA franchise the Minnesota Timberwolves. The center is currently on a two-way contract where he plays for the Iowa Wolves the NBA G League affiliate of the Timberwolves. Jesse Edwards also plays for the Netherlands men's national basketball team. The Dutch-born Edwards went undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft but later joined the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-way contract. Edwards moved to the United States from Amsterdam to attend IMG Academy before heading to college. He played four seasons at Syracuse and owing to his great performances he was named in the All-ACC Third-Team and ACC All-Defensive Team in 2023. However, in his final collegiate season, he moved to the University of West Virginia.
In his sophomore year, Jesse was named to the ACC All-Academic Team. In his freshman year, Edwards grabbed at least one board in 14-of-21 appearances. The Amsterdam-born Edwards during his final collegiate year at West Virginia University played in 23 games, starting 22 of those and averaged 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 61.3 percent from the field as per his college profile at West Virginia University. He also led WVU with 39 blocked shots in the 2023-24 season. Edwards has majored in biotechnology at Syracuse. On March 2, 2025, Edwards made his official NBA debut against the Phoenix Suns.
