Jimmy Butler is an American basketball player who plays for the Miami Heat in the NBA. The six-time All-Star was drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Butler has also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Philadelphia 76ers in the past.

After a run to the Finals last season, the Miami Heat and Jimmy Butler started their 2023/24 season with a win. Last season, the Heat made history by reaching the NBA Finals after being the No. 8 seed in their conference.

Butler had a crazy season where he averaged 22.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and was declared as the Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player.

Butler is a complete offensive threat who has the ability to draw fouls and is equally good at shooting. He is also elite defensively as he has won the All-Defensive Second Team honor five times and also led the league in steals (2.1) in the 2020/21 season.

Butler initially attended Tyler Junior College for his freshman season and averaged 18.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He was a two-star recruit by 247sports and was rated low in the college prospect list.

After getting an athletic scholarship, he switched to the University of Marquette for his sophomore season. He made his place into the team’s starting lineup as he entered his junior year and averaged 14.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game thus, earning the All-Big East honorable honors and booked the berth to the NCAA tournament for the fifth straight time.

In his final college season, Butler averaged 15.7 points per game declared for the 2011 NBA draft.
