Jonathan Clay "JJ" Redick is an American professional basketball player and the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA as of November 2024. During his time as an active player, he was selected by the Orlando Magic as the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft. Redick also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the New Orleans Pelicans. He finished his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks in 2021.
Redick graduated from Cave Spring High School in Roanoke, Virginia. He was named the McDonald's All-American Game MVP and the Virginia Mr. Basketball both in 2002. He played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team, representing Duke University from 2002 to 2006. He was named the Naismith College Player of the Year in 2006, the ACC tournament MVP in both 2005 and 2006, and the ACC Athlete of the Year in 2006. Additionally, Redick was awarded the Rupp Trophy twice in 2005 and 2006 and the James E. Sullivan Award in 2005.
