Joe Ingles is an Australian Basketball veteran who has been playing organized Basketball since 2006. Ingles began as an inexperienced youth player out of Adelaide, Australia and played his first professional game for the South Dragons of the NBL after signing a multi-year deal with them. Ingles departed Australia to play overseas in Europe and signed with CB Granada in 2019 before transferring to FC Barcelona the next year. In 2013, he played a single season with Maccabi Tel Aviv and departed Europe to play in the NBA. The rest, as we know, is history. But as much as we know of Ingles' professional career, the same cannot be said for his international career.

Joe Ingles' National Team

Joe Ingles plays for the Australian Boomers (Team Australia). While Joe has enjoyed success playing Franchise basketball, it is perhaps representing Australia that truly highlights where he plays internationally.

Ingles first represented Australia at age 21 in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He averaged 4.8 points, 0.6 rebounds, and one steal in five games played. Since then, he has been a mainstay in the Australian national team.

Playing in the 2010 FIBA World Cup, Ingles managed a far better showing in Turkey by averaging 10.3 points, three rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.8 steals. Australia got eliminated in the round of 16 and finished their campaign with three wins and three losses at the ninth spot.

It seemed that as time went on, Ingles' abilities kept improving. In the 2012 Olympics, he averaged 15 points, five rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 0.8 steals on 50% shooting.

Just before his debut season with the Utah Jazz, Ingles managed to make the team for the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Joe averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.8 steals but could only help the team achieve the 12th spot, finishing the campaign with a 3-3 record.

In total, Joe Ingles has represented Australia in four Olympics games (2008, 2012, 2016, 2020), and three FIBA World Cup events (2010, 2014, 2019).

A proud Aussie through and through, Ingles has been instrumental in elevating Australian basketball onto the international stage. A gifted Small forward, Joe has made significant contributions in spreading Basketball across Australia to make it an equally popular sport as Australian football, Rugby, and Cricket.

In International competitions for the Boomers, Ingles proudly dons the green and gold as a valuable member of the national team. With his skill set and experience, he continues to be a key asset for his country.
