Joel Hans Embiid is a standout basketball talent from Cameroon. Born on March 16, 1994, in Yaoundé, he currently plays as a center for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. Embiid was drafted by the 76ers with the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. After missing the first two seasons due to a foot injury, he made his debut in the 2016-17 season. In his rookie season, Embiid was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Embiid is a seven-time All-Star and has five All-NBA team selections and three All-Defensive team selections. He won his first league MVP in the 2022-23 season, where he averaged 33.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

At the age of 16, Embiid was 6 feet 10 inches tall and took part in a basketball camp run by Luc Mbah. In this four-day camp, Embiid played exceptionally and was offered a scholarship to play basketball at Montverde Academy, Florida.
