John Wall got candid about still having NBA ambitions during his broadcast debut at the G League showcase.
This weekend, during the NBA G League Winter Showcase, Wall tried his hand at broadcasting. While doing so, he made it known that he's still actively pursuing a spot in the NBA.
"I'm always going to critique myself. ... I can get a lot better," Wall said. "I'm learning more and more, but for me, it's talking about basketball – what I love to do. It's what I do when I'm home, watching with my friends and kids."
Wall, now 34 years old, last played for the LA Clippers during the 2022-2023 season. In 34 games he averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 assists per game. He knocked down 40.8% of his shots, including 30.3% from beyond the 3-point line.

Despite not having played professional basketball in almost two years, John Wall said that he consistently works out at the University of Miami and is keeping his body as close to game shape as possible.
"You do all you can to take care of yourself, and injuries are still part of the game of basketball," Wall said.
The former Washington Wizard made five All-Star team selections in a row from 2014-2018, but since age 28 his career has largely been cut short due to injury.
In January 2019, Wall underwent surgery on his left heel that was set to put him out for the rest of the season. But after a subsequent fall in his home, he ruptured his left Achilles tendon as well. Following that, he missed the entirety of the 2019-2020 season and would not suit up in a Wizards uniform again.
In December 2020, Wall was traded to the Houston Rockets as part of the Russell Westbrook move, and he went on to play in 40 games, averaging 20.7 ppg and 8.7 apg. It was looking like Wall's career might have been getting back on track; however, in late April of that season, he suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain and was ruled out for the rest of the year.
"Yeah, I think about that. The time I had, I enjoyed. I get frustrated at times. But God don't make no mistakes" Wall said.
The Rockets and John Wall came to a mutual decision the next season for Wall to sit out entirely to give their young guards Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. more chance to develop. Shortly after the 2021-2022 season concluded, Wall's contract was bought out, and he signed with the Clippers a few weeks later.
Wall acknowledged that he's open to more broadcasting opportunities but ultimately wants to return to the court.
"It would mean the world," he said. "You want to go out on your own terms. I want to finish it the way I want. If I play my last game, I want to walk off the court my way."
With this season's trade deadline set for Feb. 6, John Wall still has a couple of months left and will be ready to pick up when the call comes.
