Jordan Clarkson is a Filipino-American basketball player, currently playing for the Utah Jazz. Clarkson attended Karen Wagner High School in San Antonio and did not make much noise during his first two years there. It was in junior year, however, that Clarkson erupted on the scene putting forth a stellar season, averaging 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. He also led his high school to a 32-8 record and Class 5A state semi-finals. As a senior, Clarkson upped the ante and averaged 18.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.1 steals while leading his team to a 38-2 record. In November of 2009, Clarkson formally committed to the University of Tulsa.

Clarkson played 2 years in Tulsa and earned the conference Freshman of the Week honors 4 times before transferring to Missouri after his sophomore season. He had to forego his official junior season due to the NCAA transfer rules and after playing one season with Missouri, Clarkson declared to the NBA draft, foregoing his final year with Missouri.

Clarkson was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 46th overall pick and he made a slow start to his NBA career. Mostly coming off the bench for the first half of his rookie season, Clarkson barely got any playing time. In the second half of the season, Clarkson started 38 games and averaged north of 15 points, and earned All-Rookie first-team honours for his efforts. After playing 4 seasons with the Lakers, Clarkson got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a big deal centred around Isiah Thomas. He started for the Cavs and played in the 2018 NBA finals, where he did not live up to expectations. In 2019, he got traded to the Utah Jazz and this rejuvenated his career. He came off the bench for them behind Mike Conley but earned Sixth Man of the Year honours in 2021. He currently still plays for the Utah Jazz and is now a regular starter.

Jordan Clarkson’s Position

Clarkson is listed as a point guard but plays the coveted ‘combo guard’ position. As per the need of the team, he can play either point guard or shooting guard. He is one of the few combo guards in the league.

What number does Jordan Clarkson wear?

Jordan Clarkson wears the number 00. He initially wanted to wear number 8 when he came to the Utah Jazz but that number was taken up by Royce O’Neale. He wore the number 8 when he was with Cleveland and Los Angeles.
