Jordan Poole, a shooting guard for the Washington Wizards, was born on June 19, 1999. He was originally drafted by the Golden State Warriors as the overall 28th pick in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. He was a student at La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana, and Rufus King High School in Milwaukee. After that, he decided to play for the Michigan Wolverines from 2017–19. Before starting to play a key role in the Warriors rotation in 2021, he was assigned to the G-League for two seasons. In the 2021–22 NBA season, he won an NBA championship with the Warriors and topped the league in free throw percentage.

In the 2022–23 season, Poole averaged 20.4 points per game, his career-high in 82 games, which was also a career-high. However, in July 2023, he was traded to the Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. In October, he made his Wizards debut, scoring 18 points and five assists in a defeat to the Indiana Pacers, 145–120. Further, he scored a season-high 31 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers in February. In 2024–2025, he was switched to point guard. In order to experience a campus lifestyle, play a schedule that included multiple ESPN broadcasts, and be paired with a then-unsigned class of 2017 prospects Brian Bowen and Jeremiah Tilmon, Poole announced in 2016 that he would transfer from Rufus King to La Lumiere School in Indiana for his senior year. He played for La Lumiere, the Dick's National High School Champion team, in 2017. At the game, he had 13 points, three steals, three rebounds, four assists, and a 3–7 three-point shooting percentage.
