Jose Alvarado is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA. He is nicknamed "Grand Theft Alvarado" because of his ability to create steals.

Despite going undrafted, Alvarado signed a two-way contract with the Pelicans in 2021. He immediately brought energy off the bench, hiding in corners to surprise opponents on inbound plays and creating havoc with his relentless defense. In his rookie season, Alvarado has proved he belongs in the NBA with his hustle and timely shot-making.

In just his second NBA season, Alvarado's talent earned him an invite to the 2023 NBA Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend. He won Rising Stars MVP honors after hitting a game-winning shot. Now a crucial part of New Orleans' rotation, Alvarado lifts the team significantly with his energy, smothering defense and 3-point shooting.
