In his second NBA season, Alvarado's talents were acknowledged by the league when he was invited to participate in the NBA All-Star Rising Stars Challenge. He capitalized on this opportunity and won the Rising Stars Challenge MVP award with a game-winning shot.

Currently, Alvarado continues to be an essential part of the Pelicans' bench, contributing significantly with his defensive skills and energetic style of play.
