Josh Giddey is an Australian professional basketball small forward/shooting guard currently signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born on October 10, 2002, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Giddey attended St Kevin's College in Melbourne. He joined the NBA Global Academy, a training center at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra at the age of 10.


Giddey soon emerged as one of Australia's top basketball prospects there. He then went on to commit to studying at UC Senior Secondary College Lake Ginninderra, while training full-time side-by-side at the AIS. Giddey's first professional contract was with the Adelaide 36ers in the National Basketball League (NBL). He was selected as the NBL Rookie of the Year later that season.


Giddey was subsequently drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder with the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He etched himself into the history books, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double, having done so at 19 years, and 84 days old. He also became the first player since 1961 to record three consecutive triple-doubles as a rookie.


Giddey joined the elite company alongside Luka Dončić, Ben Simmons, and Grant Hill on January 10, 2023, as the only players in NBA history to record at least 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, and 500 assists in their first 100 career games.
