Jrue Randall Holiday is an American professional basketball guard for the Boston Celtics in the 2025 NBA season. Born on June 12, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, Holiday first played basketball at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, where he was a five-star basketball prospect. Later, he played at UCLA, where he played alongside Darren Collison. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Holiday as the 17th overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft.

In 2021, Jrue Holiday was integral to the Milwaukee Bucks' championship-winning roster. Before joining the Bucks, Holiday played for New Orleans for seven seasons and averaged 17.6 points, 6.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, as per Basketball Reference. In the 2023 off-season, Holiday was traded to the Boston Celtics. In his first season with the Celtics, Holiday was part of the team which clinched the 18th NBA Championship. Holiday has been named to the All-Defensive team.

In the 2023 NBA off-season, Jrue Holiday was part of two massive trades. First, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers on September 27, 2023. Later, he was traded to the Boston Celtics on October 1, 2023.

Jrue Holiday to Portland Trail Blazers trade (2024)

On September 27, 2023, Jrue Holiday was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade. This blockbuster deal involved three NBA franchises: the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers, and the Phoenix Suns. The Milwaukee Bucks secured the eight-time All-Star Damian Lillard from the Trail Blazers. Lillard's arrival in Milwaukee meant Giannis Antetoukounmpo got another elite scorer and playmaker.

In return, the Trail Blazers acquired promising young talent Deandre Ayton from the Phoenix Suns, with rookie Toumani Camara and All-Star Jrue Holiday from the Bucks. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns traded DeAndre Ayton to acquire three-point sharpshooter Grayson Allen, Keon Johnson, Nassir Little, and Jusuf Nurkic from the Blazers.

Jrue Holiday to Boston Celtics trade (2024)

After several negotiations, Jrue Holiday was traded to the Boston Celtics. In a subsequent trade, the Trail Blazers traded Holiday to Boston in exchange for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, a 2024 first-round pick from the Golden State Warriors and an unprotected 2029 first-round pick from the Celtics, as per NBA's official website.

On November 24, 2020, Holiday was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in a four-team trade.
