Champagnie enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh after declining offers from colleges such as Cincinnati and Saint Louis. He played 53 games for the Pitt Panthers, averaging 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game. In 2021, he was named to First Team All-ACC.

Champagnie went undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft but signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. After playing 39 games with the Raptors, he joined the Boston Celtics but was later waived. On February 22, 2024, he joined the Washington Wizards on a 10-day contract, which was subsequently converted into a two-way contract. As of November 19, 2024, he has played 58 games in his NBA career, scoring 181 points, grabbing 135 rebounds, and making 35 assists.
