Born on August 23, 1994 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Jusuf Nurkic is a Bosnian professional basketball player currently playing for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. He was recently traded from Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team trade which included sending Damien Lillard to Milwaukee Bucks.

Nurkic was playing for Zadar in the 2013-14 season, where he had a breakthrough season and was nominated for the FIBA Young player of the year award while winning the Croatian Finals league MVP and was named in the All-Croatian second league team in 2014. Nurkic then made the decision to declare for the 2014 NBA Draft.

Nurkic was drafted as the 16th overall pick by the Chicago Bulls in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was later traded to the Denver Nuggets on the same night. He went on to play there for more than two seasons and was later traded to Portland Trail Blazers.

Nurkic with his experience and playing alongside Lillard took his game a step further and during his time there Portland had regular appearances in the playoffs. He suffered with multiple injuries in his time there in Portland which halted his gametime and later he was traded to the Phoenix Suns in the 2023-24 off-season.

Nurkic is averaging a double-double throughout the 2023-24 season and has been a dominant force on rebounds and blocks, making a big impact in a short time in Phoenix.
