Drafted fourth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Keegan Murray impressed fans and pundits in his rookie season for the Sacramento Kings. During the Big East conference tournament, he put up 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per contest and played a crucial role in Iowa’s bid for the 2020-21 NCAA tournament.
Sophomore Season
During his sophomore season, Murray developed into one of the leading scorers in the Big Ten Conference with his overall gameplay witnessing a considerable leap in quality and productivity for the Hawkeyes. He started all 35 games and averaged 23.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks per game. He shot 55.4% from the field, including 39.8% from beyond the arc.
The 6’8” forward played a fearless, highly confident brand of basketball and led his team to winning their third conference title. As a sophomore, Murray was selected to the All-Big Ten First-team and earned the Karl Malone Award as the nation’s best Power forward. His second-year success at Iowa elevated him as a potential top-10 pick for the 2022 NBA Draft and therefore, Murray declared for the draft in late March of that year.
