Keita Bates-Diop is a 1996-born American professional basketball player for the Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Diop was selected as the 48th overall pick in the second round of the NBA draft of 2018 by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He plays as a Small forward/power forward. Bates-Diop was born in Sacramento, California and went to the school at Ohio State University. The last name of his parents is Bates but he added ‘Diop’ in tribute to the scientist and anthropologist Cheikh Anta Diop. After the 2018 draft, Bates-diop was hailed as the steal of the draft.

As a collegiate Bates-diop attended Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball. As a sophomore Keita Bates-Diop played in 33 games and started all of them, he was the second-highest scorer on the team with 11.8 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding with 6.4 rebounds per game. In the 2017-18 season, Bates-Diop was a Naismith Player of the Year semifinalist and Julius Erving Award finalist as per his college profile. In February 2020, Bates-Diop was traded to the Denver Nuggets in a four-team trade. In November 2020 the San Antonio Spurs signed Bates-Diop on a two-way contract. Then in February 2024 Bates-Diop was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in a three-team trade and then was again traded in July 2024 was again traded to the New York Knicks alongside Mikal Bridges. In February 2025, the Sacramento born Diop decided to join the Qingdao Eagles of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA)
