Keita Bates-Diop is a professional American basketball player who last played in the NBA for the Brooklyn Nets and is a free agent as of December 2024. Bates-Diop went to University High School in Normal, Illinois. As a junior, he averaged 18.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks, leading his high school to a second consecutive Corn Belt Conference championship. He also led his high school to its third consecutive Corn Belt Conference championship with a record 22-5 as a senior. Bates-Diop was named Three-time First Team All-State by the Associated Press. After finishing high school, Bates-Diop attended Ohio State University and played for the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team. As a sophomore, he played all 33 games while starting in all of them, averaging 11.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He played 109 collegiate games for the Ohio State Buckeyes, averaging 11.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game as per Sports Reference. Bates-Diop was named Big Ten Player of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten as a senior. He was also named the 2018 USBWA District V Player of the Year and made it to the 2018 USBWA All-District V Team.

Bates-Diop was selected as the 48th overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2018 NBA draft. Bates-Diop scored his career-high 30 points while playing for the San Antonio Spurs in a 138-110 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on December 23, 2021. As of December 2024, he has played 283 games while scoring 1,697 points, grabbing 848 rebounds, and dishing out 241 assists as per Basketball Reference. Bates-Diop has also played 20 NBA G League regular season games, scoring 357 points and grabbing 167 rebounds as of December 21, 2024.
