Now in his 10th NBA season, Kelly Oubre Jr. is known for his athleticism, scoring ability and defense. The veteran small forward has carved out a successful career as a role player since being drafted in 2015.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Oubre Jr. found his passion for basketball at a young age and worked on his skills and talent with dedication. After his family moved to Texas, he joined George Bush High School in Fort Bend, Texas, before eventually transferring to Findlay Prep School in Henderson, Nevada just before his senior season.
Oubre Jr.’s talents then resulted in offers from big NCAA Division I programs and he eventually signed with the University of Kansas in November 2013. As a freshman with the Jayhawks, he averaged 9.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.
Though another year at Kansas would’ve allowed him to further develop his overall game, Oubre Jr. decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and declared for the 2015 NBA Draft, where he got picked 15th overall by the Atlanta Hawks.

Golden State Warriors (2020-21)
Oubre Jr. only played one season with the Warriors. In 55 games for the Dubs in the 2020/21 season, he averaged 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Charlotte Hornets (2021-2023)
In August 2021, Oubre Jr. signed a two-year deal with the Hornets worth $25 million. In his first season in Charlotte, he served as a reliable role player off the bench. In 76 games in the 2021/22 season, he averaged 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Due to a torn ligament, Oubre Jr. only played 48 games in his second season for the Hornets.
Philadelphia 76ers (2023-Present)
In September 2023, Oubre Jr. signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers worth $2.9 million. He scored 27 points on his 76ers debut. Alongside stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, Oubre Jr.’s athleticism and defense will be crucial for the team’s title hopes this season.
