Kenny Atkinson has served as the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach since June 2024. He was appointed the Cavaliers' 24th head coach and signed a five-year contract. He succeeded J.B. Bickerstaff following three consecutive winning seasons. He served as the Golden State Warriors assistant coach from 2021 to 2024 before joining the Cavaliers, and he helped the team defeat the Boston Celtics to win the 2022 NBA Championship. In the past, he has also served as the Brooklyn Nets' head coach from 2016 to 2020, where he led the team to the playoffs in 2019, the Los Angeles Clippers' assistant coach from 2020 to 2021, the Atlanta Hawks' assistant coach from 2012 to 2016, and the New York Knicks' assistant coach from 2008 to 2012.

Atkinson was born in Northport, New York, on June 2, 1967. After graduating from the University of Richmond, he guided the Spiders to a 1988 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament Sweet Sixteen trip. During his 14-year professional playing career, from 1990 to 2004, he had stays abroad in Amsterdam, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. In his final season at Richmond, Atkinson averaged 18.9 points per game. In the summer of 1991, he tried out for several NBA teams, including the Knicks, as he went undrafted in the 1990 NBA Draft. In 2020, he was admitted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame.
