He began his basketball journey at Etiwanda High School, where he averaged 21.3 points and 7.3 rebounds as a senior. Edwards was named Baseline League Most Valuable Player and selected for the Los Angeles Times All-Star team. He led his high school team to a 30-4 record and helped them reach the Southern California Open Division regional final.
Edwards attended Pepperdine University and joined the Pepperdine Waves men’s basketball team. Over three seasons, he averaged 13.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Edwards was drafted as the 44th overall pick by the Brooklyn Nets in the second round of the 2021 NBA draft. He signed a two-way contract with the Nets and played for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G League.
