Kevon Looney is a crucial piece of the Golden State Warriors’ gameplay and has continued to be a reliable contributor for his team. With the skills and dedication he possesses, it is impossible to downplay his overall impact on the Warriors which makes sense considering he is in his ninth season with the team that drafted him.

Playing for Alexander Hamilton High in his hometown of Milwaukee, he was a dominant athlete right from his freshman season. His athleticism, ability, and skills, along with his physical attributes gave him an obvious advantage against his rivals.

From his sophomore to his senior year, Lonney didn’t average less than 20 points and 8 rebounds and those numbers only improved till he graduated.

He committed to UCLA in October 2013 and played just one season for the Institute. In his only season for the UCLA Bruins, Looney averaged 11.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on an impressive 47% shooting.

Though he could have played a season or two more, Looney decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and declared for the 2015 NBA Draft where he was picked 30th overall.

Kevon Looney Wingspan

With a wingspan measuring 7 feet 4 inches (2.24m), Looney is one of the most impactful Centers in the NBA. Centers are proficient players in the paint on both ends of the court and Looney plays the game exactly this way. He is a dependable shot blocker, steals scorer, and rebounder for the Warriors, if not THE most dependable rebounder.

An example of his rebounding proficiency was his performance in the 2023 Playoffs where he averaged an amazing 13.1 rebounds per game.

Kevon Looney Height

Looney stands 6 feet 9 inches tall. Looney’s stature and size make him an imposing presence on the court as he is not easy to get around if one wants to finish at the rim. Looney also uses his height to place screens which allows sharpshooters like Steph and Klay to get enough open space to attempt floaters, rim finishes, and field goal shots.

Looney is experienced at anticipating precise player movement, particularly close to the rim and uses that to execute his blocks and steals. Though stats might indicate that he is a good role player, his dedication on the court tells a real story.

Kevon Looney Weight

Weighing at 222 lbs (100 kg), Looney doesn’t shy away from playing physical on the court. As he is an aggressive rebounder, he usually contends against one or more opponents beneath the glass to either gain or maintain possession. When on the offense, his durability allows him to play through contact and score the basket with confidence.

Being only 27 years of age (as of December, 2023), Looney has a lot left to give back to the sport with his experience, dedication and physical talents. We can only hope that he continues to be competitive and play into his mid-30s.
