Khabib Nurmagomedov's early life and career
Khabib Nurmagomedov started his combat sports training under the guidance of his father at eight years of age. He began training at a high level in wrestling by age 12, judo at age 15, and combat sambo by age 17.
Nurmagomedov won Combat Sambo's W.C.S.F. World Championship in 2009 and 2010 while fighting in M.M.A. He made his M.M.A. debut in 2008 at C.S.F.U.: Champions League against Vusal Bayramov. The Russian submitted Vusal in the first round via submission. He next entered the Pakrtation Artium Cup, with all his victories coming via unanimous decision.
He moved to welterweight and won the Tsumada Fighting Championship 3 Tournament.
Nurmagomedov won his next title at Golden Fist And M-1 before signing with ProFC. He went 6-0 in the promotion with the distinction of finishing every opponent in the first round. He left ProFC in 2011 to join the U.F.C.
