The Miami Heat’s current starting point guard is 37-year-old Kyle Lowry. The 6 foot guard is in his 18th season in the league, having been drafted in the 2006 NBA Draft. Up until the end of the 2022/23 season, the 2019 NBA champion is averaging 14.6 points per game and 6.3 assists per game.

Although Lowry is not considered on par with some of the elite point guards in the game, he has been a regular starting member capable of chipping in with valuable performances on all teams he has played for. The Philadelphia native enjoyed his peak years while playing for the Toronto Raptors for a span of nine years. His best season was the 2016-17 season, when he averaged 22.4 points per game.

Lowry’s journey to the NBA has been a difficult one considering that his father left the family and became estranged despite living nearby. Things could have been completely different for Lowry had it not been for his older brother, Lonnie Jr., who kept him out of trouble and encouraged him to learn and play basketball from an early age. With his brother’s guidance and his own talent to count on, Lowry has achieved so much today from the game of basketball.

Kyle Lowry Contract

Kyle Lowry signed a three-year deal prior to the start of the 2021-22 NBA season, meaning this current season is his last year of his contract with the Heat.

At the end of this season, the former Raptors guard will be an unrestricted free agent and will have a big decision to make regarding his future. At 37 years of age, a possible retirement is definitely on the cards and one would not be surprised if that is the route he decides to take.

Almost all of Lowry’s numbers have come down in the past two seasons with the Heat suggesting that his time on the floor could be coming to an end once this season concludes. It will be interesting to see how the 2023-24 season goes and depending on that Lowry may change his plans for the future.

What is Kyle Lowry's current salary?

The Heat point guard is set to earn $29,682,540 for the 2023-24 NBA season. His three-year deal which he signed back in 2021-22 is worth $85,000,002, giving him an average annual salary of $28,333,334.

Before the Heat, Kyle Lowry had signed two contracts with the Raptors in 2017 and 2020 which paid him the highest average annual salaries of his career ($33,333,333 and $30,500,000).

Kyle Lowry Career Earnings

Having played in the NBA for 17 years till now, Lowry has amassed a fortune. His overall career earnings barring the current 2023-24 season stands at over $245 million.

Starting from his rookie season, Lowry signed an entry level contract with the Memphis Grizzlies for four years worth roughly $5.3 million. His second contract was another four-year deal with the Houston Rockets worth approximately $23.4 million.

In 2014, he signed his third four-year contract, this time with the Raptors which earned him nearly $48 million, and in 2017, he signed a three-year deal worth $100 million. In 2020, he signed a one-year $30.5 million deal before his current contract with the Heat.
