The LA Clippers take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for the third time this season with they meet in Minneapolis on Monday night. Minnesota will hope that a boisterous home crowd can help them snap a three-game losing streak. The Clippers will look to build on their momentum after a dominant win over the Atlanta Hawks.

Both the Timberwolves and the Clippers remain in the play-in positions and will look to string together wins to break into the top-six as we approach the midway point in the season.

The LA Clippers are seventh in the Western Conference, with a 20-15 record, two games ahead of the San Antonio Spurs and the Golden State Warriors. Los Angeles, meanwhile, has won six of its last 10 games and has an 8-9 record in away games.

Ty Lue's team comes into Monday's game off a comprehensive 131-105 home win against the Atlanta Hawks. Norman Powell led the way with 20 points, but Los Angeles had eight players finish with double-digits in the points column.

A solid defense has been the key for the Clippers early in the campaign. They are allowing just 107.9 points per game to opposing teams, the third fewest in the Western Conference.

The return of six-time All-Star Kawhi Leonard has also provided a major boost. Leonard made his season debut against the Hawks after missing the start of the campaign with a knee injury.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, meanwhile, are in the midst of a mini slump, and barely holding on to a .500 record. Three consecutive losses to the OKC Thunder, Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons saw them drop to 10th in the West with a 17-17 record. The Wolves have won just four of their last 10 games and have a 9-7 home record.

Points have been difficult to come by for a Minnesota team that lost All-Star forward Karl-Anthony Towns during the offseason. The team is averaging just 109.2 ppg and will need their star players like Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle to step up during the second half of the season.

Edwards remains a central figure for Chris Finch's lineup. The talented guard leads the roster in points (25.3) and is chipping in with 5.6 rpg and 3.9 apg.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and the LA Clippers have played twice this season, with the Timberwolves winning both games.

James Harden managed just 10 points versus the Hawks, a significant drop off from the 21.5 ppg he's averaging this season. However, Harden recorded a game-high 15 assists. With Kawhi Leonard back in the lineup, the Clippers guard has another weapon to turn to. Harden's assist total is set at 6.5, and he should be able to go over that number.

Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards is coming off an incredible outing, finishing with 53 points and 10 3-pointers against the Detroit Pistons. The 23-year-old recorded more than 50% on his team's points in one of the most impressive offensive displays of the season.

The point total is set at 24.5 for Edwards, and although that number is high, he should go over, with the way he's shooting the ball.

LA Clippers vs Minnesota Timberwolves prediction

Kawhi Leonard's return to the court has provided a spark for the Clippers who are coming off a big win.

The Timberwolves have struggled over the last week and have relied heavily on Edwards to carry the offense. Expect a deep Clippers lineup to come out firing and upset Minnesota at the Target Center on Monday.
