The Footprint Center hosts a compelling late tip-off as the Phoenix Suns welcome the LA Clippers for Monday’s NBA showdown. The two Western Conference teams have already played twice this season, with the Suns coming out on top both times despite strong performances from the Clippers.

The Clippers (26-19) enter this game one spot above the Suns in the standings after registering impressive back-to-back wins over the Milwaukee Bucks and the Washington Wizards. Although they haven't exactly set the league alight with their basketball displays, they have managed to rack up wins through their defense to stay on track for the playoff spot.

However, the prospect of facing the Suns at this time carries immense significance. Losing another game would give their opponent the regular season series and a tiebreaker in the standings. The LA team is 2.5 games ahead of the Suns in the standings, adding an extra layer of intensity and pressure to the encounter.

The Phoenix (23-21) have maintained their reputation as playoff contenders in the West. However, they often fall back into old losing habits and rely on individual brilliance to rescue themselves.

The Suns have won five of their last seven games, but all five have come against struggling teams like the Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons and the tanking Brooklyn Nets. A win tonight would dispel this notion and realistically keep them in the playoff picture.

Regarding the Clippers' team news, Kawhi Leonard has been removed from the injury report. However, three players have been listed out. Kris Dunn is still out with a left knee injury. Jordan Miller and Cam Christie are also expected to miss the game through illness and a left ankle sprain, respectively.

This means the Clippers coach Tyronn Lue will have to rely on the strength of their star-studded lineup once again to be the difference-makers and likely to go with Kawhi Leonard, Derrick Jones Jr., Ivica Zubac, James Harden, and Norman Powell as starters.

Conversely, Suns coach Mike Budenholzer has almost an entire squad. The only injury concern is Ryan Dunn, who is ruled out following an ankle injury sustained in addition to the hamstring injury he picked up against the Wizards on Saturday.

Bradley Beal is expected to replace Dunn in the starting lineup, along with Kevin Durant, Nick Richards, Tyus Jones, and Devin Booker.
