LA Lakers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 112-107 on Monday at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Anthony Davis led LA with a 42-point and 23-rebound performance. He shot an efficient 60.7% (17-for-28) and went 8-for-10 from the stripe. LeBron James finished with 22 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists on 9-for-17 shooting. Austin Reaves added 17 points and six assists, while Max Christie had 10 points.

For the Hornets, Miles Bridges had 26 points and eight rebounds. Josh Okogie and Vasilije Micic combined for 30 points off the bench. They went 11-for-22 from the field, but it was not enough as the Hornets' top scorer, LaMelo Ball, exited the game early in the second quarter due to an ankle injury. He was ruled out for the rest of the night after playing less than nine minutes.

The Lakers are now on a four-game winning streak and have improved to 26-18 this season. LA won against the Golden State Warriors 118-108 on Saturday in San Francisco. Davis also led the Lakers in that game with 36 points and 13 rebounds. The 6-foot-10 big man is averaging 25.9 points and 11.9 rebounds this season.

Jared Vanderbilt had four points, two rebounds, and two steals in his second game this season. He made his season debut on Saturday and finished with two points, four rebounds, and two assists in limited minutes.

On the other end, the Hornets dropped to 12-31 this season. Before the loss to LA on Monday, Charlotte had won four of its previous six games. Their most recent victory was on Saturday when they dismantled the visiting New Orleans Pelicans, 123-92. They are 1-2 so far on their nine-game homestand.

Ball injured his ankle after accidentally stepping on Vanderbilt's foot. The one-time NBA All-Star was on his way back after drilling a 3-pointer. He had seven points, one assist, and one steal before heading to the locker room. Ball is Charlotte's leading scorer this season at 28.9 points per game. He has led the team in scoring in six of their last nine games, excluding Monday's loss.

His injury is a big blow to the Hornets, which already have two key players down for the rest of the season. The team announced on Thursday that 2023 second-overall pick Brandon Miller underwent a season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right wrist. Forward Grant Williams is already out for the season after suffering an ACL tear in November.
