One of the season's most anticipated games between city rivals LA Lakers and LA Clippers will take place on Sunday at the Intuit Dome for the first time. The Lakers debut in an arena not shared with the Clippers, bringing a ton of excitement for this matchup. Both teams are neck-and-neck in the standings and have had similar runs.
The Lakers are sixth with a 22-17 record, while the Clippers are 23-17, fifth in the West. Leading up to this clash, the Lakers have consecutive wins in their previous two outings over the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets. Meanwhile, the Clippers are on a three-game-winning streak, with wins against the Heat, Nets and Portland Trail Blazers.
The scheduling for this contest couldn't have come at a more ideal time as the Clippers will have Kawhi Leonard on the floor. Leonard's season debut was delayed as he worked his way through his knee injury, playing his first game on Jan. 4. However, that has now allowed him to be available for the Clippers' first game of the year against LeBron James and the Lakers.
