The LA Lakers resume on-court action after five days against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday at the Target Center. Both teams have the same number of losses, with the Lakers 13-11 on the season and Timberwolves 12-11. It's their third meeting this year.
Anthony Davis and Co. won the opening night game 110-103 at home, while the Timberwolves earned the bragging rights on Dec. 2 at Friday's venue with a 109-80 result. The game tends to be in the Timberwolves' favor again, as they are the more in-form team with four wins in their past five outings.
Meanwhile, the Lakers have just two wins in that span against minnows Utah and Portland. To make matters worse, LeBron James won't suit up, while several other role players remain sidelined. The onus will be on Anthony Davis and D'Angelo Russell to lead the team, but both have been streaky.
On the other hand, the Timberwolves are coming off a streak-snapping 114-106 loss to the Warriors. However, the Anthony Edwards-Julius Randle tandem is meshing well lately. Their depth and versatility remain better against a shorthanded Lakers team, giving them the edge to tie LA's season record after Friday.
