Lauri Markkanen is a one-time NBA All-Star (2023) who plays for the Utah Jazz in the NBA. Hailing from Jyväskylä, Finland, Markkanen is a 7-foot-tall power forward who is known for his elite 3-point shooting ability. Eero Markkanen

Eero Markkanen is the eldest brother of Lauri Markkanen, who is a professional soccer player. As of November 2024, Eero Markkanen plays as a striker for the Finnish club PK-35 in Ykkösliiga. Born on July 3, 1991, Eero has had a long soccer career, playing for various clubs across Finland, Sweden, Spain, Indonesia, and the United States.

Eero Markkanen began with Blackbird and Vihtavuoren Pamaus in Finland, then moved to play for JIlves on loan, before joining JJK. During this early period, he also played on loan with Warkaus JK and HJK. In 2014, Eero signed with AIK in Sweden, where he scored 6 goals in 14 appearances. This great performance led to a transfer to the prestigious Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team for Real Madrid. Although Eero didn’t appear for Real Madrid's main squad, this opportunity with them was immense for Eero. Following this stint, he returned to Finland briefly with RoPS, then re-signed with AIK for another term.

Eero Markkanen also played on loan for Dynamo Dresden in Germany and Randers in Denmark. In 2018, Eero Markkanen moved to Dalkurd in Sweden, followed by a season with PSM Makassar in Indonesia. Eero returned to Finland in 2020 to play for Haka and then continued his career with Orange County SC in the United States in 2021.

Eero Markkanen came back to Finland, joining HIFK in 2022, and later played with Gnistan. Now, Eero plays with PK-35 in the Finnish Ykkösliiga. Besides club-level professional Soccer, Eero Markkanen has also played for his national team Finland in international FIFA competitions. Eero made an international debut for Finland in 2014, and since then, he has earned over 18 caps for the Finnish national team. He was also selected in Finland’s World Cup qualification rounds in 2018.

Miikka Markkanen

Miikka Markkanen, the middle sibling, is a former basketball player who played as a center. Born on February 4, 1993, Miikka stands at 6 feet 7 inches and has competed in Finland’s 1st Division for HoNsU BC Jyvaskyla. Miikka played two seasons with the club from 2011 to 2013. Although Miikka’s career was relatively short compared to Lauri’s, he showcased great two-way skills as a young player in Finnish basketball.
