Growing up, Quinones played for multiple schools, Dix Hills in New York, St. Benedict’s Prep in New Jersey and the IMG academy in Florida. As a senior, Quinones played with Precious Achiuwa, a five-star recruit and a current NBA player. The duo led the team to a 28-2 record and earned a top 10 national rank by MaxPreps. The two also played together in the Under Armour Association (UAA) circuit, where Quinones averaged 15.2 points and 4.7 rebounds.
As a four-star recruit out of high school, Quinones played college basketball for the Memphis Tigers in the AAC conference. Over 87 games and three seasons, he averaged 10.1 points, 4.3 points and 1.8 assists per game, and was named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team.
