#1 John Stockton
John Stockton is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, even though he was unable to win an NBA title throughout his 19-year career with the Utah Jazz.
Stockton had it all as an NBA point guard, he was a brilliant passer, efficient shooter, and controlled his team's pace with tremendous basketball IQ. Stockton led the NBA in assists per game a record nine times, and he won those nine consecutively from 1988 to 1996.

He is the NBA's all-time leader in career assists, with a whopping, borderline, untouchable 15,806 assists in the regular season. That record is likely to remain for many decades to come, possibly ever, but Stockton is also the all-time leader in steals in NBA history with 3,265.
Stockton was also a high-effort player on defense, apart from his offensive skills, and he made it to five All-Defensive teams in his career. He led the NBA in steals per game twice.
His career average of steals per game finished at 2.2, which is the seventh-best in NBA history.
Apart from leading the NBA twice in steals per game, Stockton also led the league in total steals twice, with 263 in the 1988-89 season and 244 in the 1991-92 NBA campaign.
