Michael Jordan's awards were fantastic
Despite retiring twice, Air Jordan managed to achieve a lot and separate himself from the rest of the pack. The shooting guard began earning rewards in his first year in the league and he never slowed down.
In the end, he won it all six times and was named the MVP in five different seasons. Jordan was also the best defensive player in the league in his fourth season in the league.
Rookie of the Year
The Chicago Bulls legend took the league by storm in 1984. The Bulls made the right move by drafting him as he became a superstar right away, leading the team to the playoffs.
In his first season, the shooting guard averaged 28.2 points, winning the Rookie of the Year award. Jordan also averaged a career-high 8.5 assists as a rookie and led the league in steals with 2.8 per game.
MVP awards
Michael Jordan's awards include five MVP trophies. He won the first such trophy in his fourth year in the league, after leading the league in scoring with 35 points per game.

Jordan ended up winning the prestigious award four more times, including back-to-back awards in 1991 and 1992. Thanks to his incredible performances, Jordan ranks second all-time in MVP trophies, trailing only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Defensive Player of the Year
During his first MVP season, Jordan was also named the Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks.
Air Jordan was an absolute beast on both ends of the floor. His lockdown defense earned him the award that is mostly given to forwards and centers.
As of 2022, only Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon and Giannis Antetokounmpo managed to win the MVP and DPOY award in the same year.
Finals MVP awards
The Chicago Bulls shooting guard was fantastic in both the regular season and the playoffs. However, everyone knows that he stepped up when it mattered the most, which is why he earned six Finals MVP trophies.
Jordan's Finals MVP record is flawless as he's never lost on the biggest stage. He won his first-ever Finals MVP trophy in 1991, and his last one arrived in 1998, during the last dance of the Chicago Bulls.
All-Star Game MVP
Jordan's fourth season of professional career was magical. He earned a lot of awards during this period, establishing himself as one of the best players in the entire league.
Jordan was named the All-Star Game MVP in 1988 after scoring 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting. The basketball legend received this MVP award two more times, in 1996 and 1998.

Despite lacking a reliable 3-point shot, Jordan averaged 30.1 points during his 15-year career. What's even more impressive is the fact that he led the league in scoring 10 times.

Jordan wasn't the league's top scorer in the first and final two years of his career. He also did not win the scoring title after his first retirement.
Besides being a fantastic scorer, Jordan led the league three times in steals per game. He also won back-to-back Slam Dunk Contest championships in 1987 and 1988.
Outside the NBA, Michael Jordan's awards include an NCAA championship in 1982 and two Olympic gold medals with the United States national team in 1984 and 1992.
