However, after finishing their first 10 games with a 4-6 record, the Lakers went on to win three straight games before hosting the Portland Trail Blazers at the Staples Center.
The Lakers had already played the Blazers twice before this match-up, and this was their third game of the season. LeBron James dropped a then season-high 44 points, and led the Lakers to their fourth straight win of the season, going up 2-1 against the Blazers.
He also passed Wilt Chamberlain (31,419 points) on the NBA career scoring list. His 44 points included 28 points in the second half, and he was one assist shy of his 75th triple-double. This was by far his best performance of the season, and showed the world once again that the King only gets better with age.
This was the Lakers' first home-win against the Blazers since Feb 22, 2013, and ended Portland's nine-game win streak at the Staples Center.
Final Score: Los Angeles Lakers 126 - 117 Portland Trail Blazers
