Luka Doncic Injury Update: How long will the Mavericks be without their star player

Luka Doncic's injury kept him sidelined during Sunday night's matchup. The Dallas Mavericks superstar was unable to play against the Oklahoma City Thunder as he dealt with an ankle injury.

Unfortunately for Luka, the Mavericks lost another game without him. In fact, the team is 0-4 so far in the 2022-23 season when Doncic has been inactive. On the positive side, however, the shooting guard should be back very soon.

Despite not being able to help the Mavs against the Thunder, Doncic is listed as day-to-day. Considering that his injury is not very serious, the 23-year-old guard could be back for the next contest.

Doncic is having a fantastic season and is one of the top MVP candidates. While he's been generally healthy this season, the guard has missed four games.

The 6-foot-7 star missed two games due to a quad injury and one game to rest. He did not suit up for the contest against the Thunder because of his ankle, which has bothered him for the last two weeks.

The guard, who leads the league in scoring with 34.0 points per game, will most likely play in the next game. The Mavericks will continue their five-game road trip in Los Angeles, where they will match up against the Clippers on Tuesday night.

Despite suffering a loss against the Thunder, the Dallas Mavericks are still one of the hottest teams in the league. They have won eight out of their last 10 games and are currently in fourth spot in the Western Conference.

Considering that the Mavs lost all four games without Luka, their record would have been better if the guard played in these games.

Without Doncic, Dallas lost games by an average margin of 12.5 points per game.

Luka is having another career year

Luka Doncic keeps getting better with every season. During the 2022-23 campaign, the 23-year-old guard leads the league in scoring with 34.0 points per game, which is also his career-high.

Doncic is also averaging 8.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. If the Mavericks manage to end the regular season with one of the best records in the league, there is no doubt that the former Rookie of the Year could win the MVP award.

Considering that the LA Clippers have lost six games in a row, the Mavericks are favorites to win Tuesday night's matchup. However, their road trip will also include a game against the Lakers, who are on a five-game win streak, and back-to-back games against the Portland Trail Blazers.
