Luka Dončić is a professional basketball player who made his debut for Real Madrid Baloncesto, a Spanish professional basketball club, at the age of 16. He made his professional playing debut in 2015 for Real Madrid. Doncic averaged 16 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game over 33 games in the 2017-18 season, according to Proballers. He was named the Euroscar Player of the Year in 2019 and the Liga ACB MVP in 2018. Doncic was the Liga ACB Champion in 2015, 2016, and 2018, the EuroLeague Champion in 2018, and the Spanish King's Cup Winner in 2016 and 2017.

Doncic was picked in the first round as the third overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 NBA Draft and he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks before the regular season started. In the 2023-24 season, he scored a total of 2,370 points in 70 games for the Mavericks, becoming the first European to lead the NBA in scoring. Doncic has played five times in the NBA All-Star from 2020 to 2024 as of February 2025. On February 2, 2025, he was signed by the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Max Christie, a 2029 first-round pick, and Anthony Davis.

Luka Doncic’s National Team Career

As of February 2025, Luka Doncic has been representing Slovenia internationally. In the Division B tournament of the 2014 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, he was selected for the Slovenian junior national basketball team but he could not participate because of a knee injury. Doncic made his debut for the Slovenian men's national basketball team in the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket, where he averaged 14.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game over nine games. As per his FIBA profile, he participated in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas, Lithuania, the Tokyo 2020 Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament, and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, all in 2021. Doncic made his club debut on the international stage in the 2015 FIBA Intercontinental Cup for Real Madrid.

In the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket, Doncic averaged 26 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game in seven games. He also played in the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2023. As of February 2025, he recently played for the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Greece, where he averaged 27.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 9.7 rebounds per game in three games. In the 2017 EuroBasket, Doncic and his national team secured a gold medal. As of February 2025, he averaged 23.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.
